Les relations entre les banques coopératives et les organisations de l'économie sociale et solidaire : proximités et partenariats

Abstract : The aim of this article is to examine in a mainly empirical and exploratory manner how the chief executives of social and solidarity economy organizations judge their relationship with cooperative banks in France. In their view, are cooperative banks the same as other banks or do they see them as genuine partners? Does the concept of proximity play a role in the sense of partnership? If so, what types and forms of proximity are there? Using the transcripts of interviews from fieldwork, we test an interpretative model of proximity based on theoretical work in new institutional economics dealing with territory. Our study concludes that social and solidarity economy organization chief executives feel even closer to their bank when they share cultural and social capital with it.
